Hard truth: there is no such thing as "belly fat loss." There is fat loss. Your body decides the order. For most guys, belly is the last to go.
The mechanism: Calorie deficit of 300-500/day. That's it. 90% of fat loss is diet, 10% is training. Anyone selling you anything else is selling you something.
The plan:
1. Calculate calories: Bodyweight in lbs × 12 = maintenance. Eat 500 below that. Protein at 1g per lb.
2. Eat for fullness: Lean meats, eggs, vegetables, rice/potatoes, Greek yogurt, berries. Cut liquid calories first, beer, soda, juice. That alone might do it.
3. Lift 3-4x/week heavy. Not to "burn fat" - to keep your muscle while you lose. Cardio is a bonus, not the engine. 8,000-12,000 steps/day is enough.
4. Sleep 7-8 hours. Sleep-deprived guys lose 60% less fat on the same diet. Real number.
Realistic timeline: - 1-2 lbs per week - Belly is last, expect 8-16 weeks to see visible difference depending on starting point.
What's a waste of money: - Fat burner pills, waist trainers, "detox" teas, ab gadgets, targeted "ab workouts" for fat loss.
Boring works. Everything exciting in the fitness industry is built to keep you fat and shopping.
